Any laptop repair people?

Hinge broke on my laptop so i ordered a new one from the states. I was very careful when installing it (i am not a novice) but when i have put the laptop back together the backlight for the LCD is not working now!! It was working before.

I have taken it all apart again and checked every coneection. The magnetic switch to say when the laptop is shut still works correctly because the laptop goes to sleep.

Anyone have any ideas?

What's the make & model? I assume you have also checked the inverter board connection on the actual LCD itself?

Its an old acer travelmate c300. looked at all connections. the screen is working fine. just the lights gone. v frustrating.

as dappy says, there is a small circuit board housed with in the screen usually at the bottom or side of the screen, it will have a small cable going in one side and a 2 pin cable the other, try reseating these, failing that you might have to follow the cables to the mother board and reseat that side, also there may be a break in a cable.

bear in mind the 2 pin side is very high voltage so battery out and disconnect the mains.
