Any MATX 775 motherboards without onboard graphics?

That's a good choice, but there is better.

I run a Gigabyte GA-G33M-DS2R, with a Scythe Mini Ninja. I just disabled the onboard graphics so that I can run my 4870. There's no shortage of ports on the backplate at all, plus it's really useful if you get GPU problems. You can just switch back to IGP if you have to RMA so that you can continue to use your PC. I think it's a MASSIVE advantage over a motherboard without integrated graphics.

My E8400 runs at 3.6GHz (400x9) but I think it's good for more than that, I just keep it there for a nice balance of performance/heat.

There are also some good nVidia chipset S775 mATX boards, but i'm not so clued up on them. Hopefully Walter (WJA96) will see this and post, he knows which ones are worth the money.

Yeah, it's G33.

But the only real difference between G33/G35/G43/G45 is the integrated graphics power, and they all suck in terms of performance.

I bet you'd find the G33 overclocks better than most, if not all, of the G40 series boards.

Why does the G33 overclock better than the newer G40's?
Trouble is I can't find the G33 board for sale anymore.. and I'd really like one!
Ideally I think a P45 board, but they are double the price of the boards with integrated graphics (why?) What would you reccomend in terms of what is available now for overclocking an e5200 - bearing in mind I want to stick to mATX board.

Not all of the G30 series boards are good overclockers - just certain ones do. Asus did a couple of good G33/G35 boards, as well as the Gigabyte. I think it was just a case of there not being a good overclocking LGA775 mATX board on the market and certain companies wanted to see if they could make some money from one.

As for finding one new, well, you won't. Best place to try is the second hand places really.

The P45 mATX boards are a lot more expensive because you're paying for a faster, more overclockable chipset, better southbridge, and Crossfire. They're not really aimed at the same market segment as the majority of the G30/40 boards, which is budget HTPC.

Looks like you can still get the G35 ASUS P5E-VM HDMI, although it's around £80+

Gone up in price since I bought mine, although I've had 2 of them running for a year now and am very happy with their performance.
