i actually used to have an ATI version of it lol, not sure if I have it anymore though :S

Isn't it custom made?

As for the OP, the new cards are supposed to appear around june-july period. That's also when the new 9900 cards are being unveiled if I'm not mistaken?

*prepares to be flamed with corrections =D*

In theory and contary to the link, shouldn't these blow away Nvidia's revised G92 cards coming out at the same time?

Good news if they do, it might actually make Nvidia produce a "new" card instead of just tweaking

same thing was said about the HD2900's and looks what happened to them

From the above article :-

Nvidia Corp., currently the leading supplier of discrete desktop GPUs, unveiled its GeForce 9800 GTX just a few days ago without making loud announcements or claims. The reason for this quiet launch is simple: the new GeForce 9800 GTX is not faster than the GeForce 8800 GTX released almost one and a half years ago and offers almost no new capabilities. A similar thing can be said about ATI, graphics product group of Advanced Micro Devices, who launched its Radeon HD 3870 back in November with fanfares, but without any performance improvements over ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT, which was meant to be a product due in 2006, but slipped into May, 2007.

pmsl :D

Hahahahaha :D. The 9800GTX does have one benefit over the GTS though. A little bit higher memory overclockability :p. Which doesn't do anywhere near as much as the shader and core clocks :o.

Bizarre, I think it looks pretty good. Each to their own though ;). Even if it's based around R600 the introduction of DDR5 as well as 1ghz clocks might see a totally different beast than what we know from X2 3870.

man this is the most disapointing year for Nvidia/ATI ever.... lazy aint the word they just stopped production completly its like there ignoring crysis, we need a 3rd player to come along and sort them out!

Oh dear, looks like it's just a revised 3870 to me, the main difference being GDDR5 and 160 shaders, unless it has a 512-bit bus I can't see it being anything special tbh.

I agree with you but, after comparing the HD2900 to HD3800, do you really think a 512bit is necessary? A 512bit bus may sound "special" but thats all it's useful for right now. Also, given the speed increases that will come with GDDR5, I think a 512bit bus is simply overkill.
