DG834T wireless modem router

Are they any good

Ive read that there are major problems

Have these been sorted

If not the Netgear
What else is highly reccommended as a wireless modem router

If you mean DG834GT then yes I had one, 1st thing you do with it is upgrade the firmware. After I did that it ran prettymuch constantly for a year without problems and only then got removed because I was given a new router. It was running 2 pcs hardwired 1 pc downstairs quite a far distance and a laptop and I got great signals even from the bottom of the garden. 5/5 Great Router.

So the 2 posts above highlight the pitfal lof using a large forum for advice.

Somewill like it, others that have a problem won't ;)

Personally I have seen a great many Netgear installs and the problem rate is low.

1.02.04 is the latest. My reasoning for saying its rubbish, the wifi signal is erratic at best, poor range and frequently drops out for no reason and refuses to reconnect. Even when using wired up, if 2 people both put some load on it, it crawls to a snail pace. Throughput is poor even accross the LAN, 700k/s transfers over 100mbit is very poor imo. WebUI is also quite poorly laid out. My 20 quid connexant type one I have back at home wipes the floor with this thing.
