Any step-by-step guides to getting remotely controllable cable on my PC?

Hi all.

I currently have Virgin Media cable coming into my living room. What I'd like to be able to do is have this accessible in my study also so I a) don't have to worry about reception by going for freeview as my area is poor, and b) can watch and record the TV on my PC

.

Can someone tell me if this is possible please, and if it is, provide a shopping list containing what I'll need to perform it.

Ok, thanks for the help. So the shopping list as I see it is as follows:

- remote extender
- co-ax cable from digibox to PC
- TV card that supports RF-in

Is that it?
