Hi all,

I've purchased a set of projector headlights for my car, but i'm having a bit of a wiring issue.

The loom is basically plug and play. The new headlights have a plug that goes into the basic 3-prong plug found on H4 bulbs. There is a yellow, white and brown wire. When i plug them in and turn them on i get the following...

Side lights - normal
Dipped mean - both dipped and main come on
Main beam - dipped goes off and main stays on

Now, its supposed to be just dipped when they are turned on (obvioulsy) then when you flick main on, dipped go off and main go on (flicking it on permanently, when you do it towards you as if to flash dipped will stay on).

So, any ideas how i can get around this issue? When the dipped is on at the moment i'm getting the main beam light come up on the instrument clocks...

Any help appreciated..

Phil

Sounds like the plug is wired the wrong way, the dip and main beam feed *might* need to be swapped.

Have you got a multimeter or similar to test what's happening before starting to swap everything about?

Does it happen on both sides?

Ok i've done 2 things and it seels to have worked...

1) Swapped yellow and white wires in original headlight plug round, left earth where it was.

2) swapped wires in headlights round as there are 2 bulbs instead of 1 on new units.

Now i get...

Sidelights - normal
Dipped beam - as it should be
Main beam - dipped and main together

So now i'm happy chap apart from finding a blow bulb which i will replace, its sorted :)

Pic of how it looks at the moment hehe..
