Anybody here been to Vilamoura, in the Algarve..?

Hi all,

Vilamoura is the place I'm hopefully gonna be staying next month, when on holiday...

Just wondering what your experiences have been..? Any tips?

been twice, absolutely lovely place quiet, classy and a generally real nice holiday

totally removed from the rest of Portugal which to be honest on the most part is a bit of a dive

I've been , very expensive to eat etc. People are polite and thats about all you can say about them. they do there job and thats it. Don't expect them to go beyond the call of duty.

On the plus side there is a nice breeze on a night time so its not humid on a night which is great

The casino is an alright night out. There's some nice restaurants around the harbour, also a really nice Thai place opposite the McDonalds if you fancy a change. It can be windy there, and the beach is quite steep into the water but when you get out a bit there is a sand bar you can stand on.
