Only just had these and so I am allowing them to burn in prior to doing the mod. just wondered if anybody had already done it and noticed a discernable difference down the bottom end? Thanks.
Anybody tried the foam mod on the Sennheiser 558's

I very much doubt it will make much difference to the bass, although someone felt the bass was more flabby with the foam/tape removed. The biggest difference seems to be be a more open sound and more clarity.
Doing the mod will void warranty though, just in case you weren't aware of that.
