Anyone been to a silent disco?

The idea of actually being able to talk to the people I am with appeals to me. But since I don't dance/sway/wiggle at all I'll stick to the pub.

Once you get over the fact you might look a bit of a tool (that's where the alcohol comes in), they're a good laugh. Against a proper sound system they're no contest, but they make a decent replacement/alternative. I kind of overdid them this year at all the festivals I went to, since they're usually the best entertainment around midnight, but you'll probably enjoy it for your first time.

The best bit is when my mate and I were the only two skanking to "Beer" when everyone else was listening to Slipknot at Download . Oh, that and boosting my mate onto the tent scaffolding at Leeds.

Fantastic, let's get drunk, listen to music through headphones and sing along to it...

Hmmm, I do the drunk part but the rest is the walk home with my ipod.

Pointless idea.

Why go to a club if you have a decent sound system at home?

Oh right, because other people and socialising.

They are great but you miss the awesome feeling when a nice bass heavy track comes on the speakers :D

Not sure why everyone is hating its a great idea, can actually have a conversation, order drinks and change what you're listening to.

Yeah, they're a good crack if you're in the mood. I went to the silent disco at reading 2009 - massive tent full of people silently dancing.

Take a can of beer with you and have a good time :D When I went, they played the mario themetune and everyone went crazy.

I played at my mate's birthday houseparty this year, and we did this from 1am onwards as to not annoy his neighbours.

Yep been to a couple good fun, quite surreal when you take them off and all you can here is people two stepping everywhere, especially if there is different channels to listen.

How can anything with disco in the name be pretentious?

I've been to one and it was brilliant fun. It's always hilarious to take your headphones off and see people going nuts to, well, nothing :D

Another amusing factor is what happens to people who are prone to be aggressive. Someone once elbowed me and looked aggressive. I tapped him and took my headphones off, then he took off his.

"What are you doing?"
*silence*
"I... I don't know :("

:p
