Anyone else had a Crucial M225 fail on them?

I was led to believe that the light permanently on indicated a failed drive but if yours is working that's a bit odd.

It's deffo permanently on mate. I posted a bit further back in this thread about what happened to mine. I BSOD then rebooted with the drive not showing even in the bios, I reloaded my bios settings and still no bootup, as a last resort I disconnected the only other H/D in my setup and rebooted and there in the BIOS was my SSD. I was able to boot into windows then power down reattach my backup drive (the other H/D) and rebooted again without any problem. I'm using the SSD typing this now :) What I reckon caused my problem was a stupid error on my account in that I was converting a MKV and ran out of H/D space on the SSD but either way the SSD is still working with the red led lit

I had a failure with my 128GB M225 in my Tower system. It took ages to get an RMA number via email, but they replaced it with a C300. However........ the drive I sent was 2.5", the replacement was 1.8". Rather than try to get them to exchange it, I bought a power/SATA adaptor.

Crucial does seem very focused on memory, the instructions with the drive were for fitting memory!

They seem to be ashamed of the M225 range, not a trace of it on their website, even as a superceded model. Ah well, I wonder how long my M225 256GB drive will run?

A couple of clicks on their website and there's all the info on the M225 (Firmware, guides, specs etc)

Just checked my RMA and it's a "CTFDDAC064MAG-1G1.002" that they're sending me. I think that's the 2.5" version. It better be!!

I had a m225 fail after firmware update. Mine had no serial stickers on it either, but lucky for me I kept the box and thats where I found all the serial numbers not on the drive itself. As for the RMA process it was spot on. I posted the drive on a Monday and had it replaced with a c300 on the Friday so you can't get much better than that.

Mine died, put my laptop into suspend by closing the lid. Opened it 5 mins later BSOD followed by drive no longer detected in the BIOS. Since tried on several other machines :(

Unfortunately it seems SSDs work great until they don't and that's that for your data, no lingering death like you often got with HDDs. :(
