Anyone else have the boss using video cameras at there work to watch them

At work my every movement is tracked...every input recorded and exactly how I do my job logged. They also record every word I say both to customers and to colleagues!

I don't get ANY lunch break, nor break at all. I'm required to work any day of the year apart from Xmas day and work hours that would make most people cry.

Meh doesn't bother me! :D

We all know you sleep on the job and let computers do it all:)

Actually I was thinking about you yesterday and I wanted to ask a question.
I'm halfway through a documentary about Iron Maiden and their Final Frontier tour where they decided to strip the plane and put all their equipment on board.
I expect you know that the singer Bruce Dickinson is a licensed pilot and he flies it to all the gigs.

My questions:
1) On the way to the airport he said he would have to find a phone booth to change into his Pilots uniform so do you have a code of conduct that says you have to dress in a certain way?
2) Even though he knows everybody on the plane would he still have to keep the cabin door locked and let nobody in?
3) Keeping with this thread would he also be subjected to the same surveillance as you?

Depends on the job i.e. if it was something security sensitive then I'd understand having CCTV covering the main working areas, etc.

Where I work we only have CCTV covering the entrances/exits, secure storage and server racks - there was a suggestion about putting CCTV covering the main working areas and it didn't go down well - I'd probably quit myself tbh as its really not needed for the work I do.

Rules about mobile phones at work annoy me to - ok there are some situations where its not appropriate but for most jobs theres no good reason to have silly rules about them imo.

Not sure if I should feel honoured or violated that you were thinking about me I have to admit.. :D

None of those questions have a direct answer. The simple answer for all of them would be it is totally dependant on the Ops manual of the company and in turn the AOC (Air Operators Certificate). The ops manual is the legal and approved operating procedures to fly that aircraft for that company. If the ops manual says you have to wear a uniform then yes you'd have to wear one, same with the locked door policy and the FDM (flight data monitoring). Bruce used to work for Astraeus, they have since gone bust!

For his specific tour flights he may well have been able to get dispensation from the chief pilot (who is the post holder for the safe operations in the airline) to fly without uniform and possibly (but probably unlikely) with an open door policy.

The FDM and CVR have to be on for all flights so he'd have had no choice in that.

ask your boss for a copy of all the video he has with you on it. your entitled to see what he has with you in it due to the data protection act.

same with town center cctv, think it cost you a tenner and a photo of yourself though.

Mark thomas did a program on it some years ago on C4 i think it was.

All the offices in the company i work at have CCTV in them, able to see what we are doing at our desks....its part of working where we do....

I don't see the problem unless you think he's being a perv lol.

If you ain't doing anything wrong and you don't think the above then wtf?

My current place(hopefully not for long) has a camera in the staff room to make sure you don't use your mobile phone. We aren't allowed to have them switched on. They even do random spot checks and calling around phones to see who still has theirs switched on.

Disciplinary if you're ever caught using a phone.

Most ridiculous rules ever. You'd think it was MI5.

what do you do for a living?

Do you not need a relevant license or permission from who is being watched to watch live CCTV constantly ? Such as what security guards would have

When I worked in a warehouse covered in cameras one of the managers was suspended for actively watching CCTV to catch people not working after the the union got involved . The cameras where deemed only for security or for reviewing in case of accident or incident .

Reading these comments makes me happy :L

I'm a removal man, turn up to work put what's needed for the job on the lorry/lorries go off and get the job done, breaks are however many coffees/teas you can get. The only time the boss gets on your neck if you're running behind or you've ****ed up and can't get it all on (both are infrequent :O)

Jesus christ.

Find a new job.

I take my breaks when I want, I'm currently on a break until about 5am... :p

We have CCTV but most of the cameras are outside and I have access to the tapes and stuff. :)

In the places I often work there are all kinds of security protocols, least of all being constant CCTV surveillance....it doesn't bother me, I don't even notice it tbh.

No surveillance where I work. I occasionally watch porn if I want to. I could even fap when I'm left in charge sometimes during lunch... Not that I have ever done that ¬_¬, but I have the option if it ever came to that.
