I like doing various experiments at home including electrolysis, making sodium metal and flash powder.

Does anyone else do anything like this? If anyone does, what sort of experiments do you do?

Yeah. When I was twelve. I didn't know what I was making, but usually involved petrol, polystyrene and sticky burny stuff.

yes, again when I was about 12. I made some flash paper with my grandad and dad. I tried making a smoke bomb - Potassium nitrate (saltpeter) and sugar heated slowly. Didnt have any Potassium nitrate so used sodium nitrate (weedkiller)

Heated it in a used bean can on the hob in my kitchen... Cue a 6 foot 10 second flame thrower melting holes in the kitchen work surfaces and ceiling then me getting a right roasting from mum n dad!

Also made a tennis ball bomb. My mates older brother apparently made a pipe bomb but we never saw it so.

To be honest petrol can on a bonfire was the best thing I saw

I don't make bombs, I like to make things like flash powder, Sodium metal, and electrolysis of various solutions/liquids.

Nitrogen triiodide

Interesting. :)

That stuff explodes when it gets touched doesn't it?

Where's Jonny69 when you need him? Messing about with dangerous stuff™ is his bag entirely, although he also cooks a mean dinner or so I'm told - they're not related those skills I don't think but might be worth mentioning anyway.

Especially from Batteries, fertiliser, sugar and other odds and sods from the local hardware store....

This isn't really news to anyone is it?

I personally hate all the sniggering 'cleverness' of people who think that making bombs or chemical weapons is something to be admired.

Ah, go on then - enlighten us. Go on you know you want to.

haha you sound a bit bitter over nothing.

who said anything about bombs or chemical weapons?

It's so easy it is scary tbh. A microwave, petrol, 12v car battery in wheelybin loaded with nails.....kaboom.

How difficult would that be.
