So I hadn't logged into my Origin account for about 2-3 years.

Didn't have loads of games only about 5 but had BF3 and 4 plus premium for each and fancied having a quick bash at one of them. Struggled to remember my login details but when I did no games, no order history etc showing up. I may have got the keys from a key site so thats fine but thought maybe I accidentally had another account with the games on. Did the request password feature using all email addresses I had and found another email I haven't used for ages had an account associated with it, brilliant, logged into it, no games....looked at my bank statements and found an Origin payment in December 2013 for £1. I 'think' it was for Bad Company 2 which EA were doing for very cheap at the time.

Contacted them via Live Chat and after chatting for a while giving possible usernames, emails, games purchased etc I was given a reference and told to use a special form that would sort the issue out. The account recovery form asked for most of the same info but gave it anyway, didn't hear anything and then received an email advising that as the account can only be recovered with info the account was registered with they were unable to retrieve the account. I raised another recovery form but listed everything I could possibly thing of, previous addresses, my bank details and date of the payment in relation to the account and asked if they could simply ask me regarding the info they need and I will do my best to provide it. Next day got exactly the same email as the first regarding the info used to sign up the account being what they go on.

So that's it I guess, i'm not heartbroken as I hadn't used it for years but disappointed that those games are lost and certainly makes me reluctant to purchase anything else through Origin. I saw the case of the guy who lost loads of games and eventually had them reinstated on a new account but no idea how he accomplished that. Anyone else experienced anything similar?

Just for a random fact i was able to get Half Life 2 added to my current Steam account from when I bought it on release day over 10 years ago using a random account I created back then!

EA are the complete stink.

Maybe the information you are giving does not match what they have on record so technically, they cannot give the account to you.

EA being EA, maybe they just could not find the account and said what they said because they just cannot be ****** to do anything about it :D

If your are ADAMANT you are giving the correct details , send a letter recorded delivery to their CEO with a copy of the bank statement showing the transaction. If you have the grey market keys, add them to the letter as well, they should be able to track those :D

It is a moral thing, not a "value of lost games thing".

All depends how much you want to "stick it to the man".

If all else fails, post on reddit, everyone posts their beef on their nowadays :D

The fact you don't know what Email or user name you used doesn't help anyone at all! You have even admitted that the games you had you wouldn't use or play so simple answer setup a Brand new account and write down the user name and password some where safe , I had lots of my accounts over the years hacked but with this new 2 way Auth no one has gotten in to them since I've done that so def set that up with all the gaming platforms , Steam , Uplay & Origin.

I just want to add that yes I have lost my account on Origin and I provided them with my Email and user name and got my account back right away.

Another option would be tweeting an EA community manager, (@PartWelsh seems to be a good bloke and tried to recover an account for someone else up until the point they started to be abusive towards him). My advice would be ask nicely, and you might get a friendly helping hand.

Are you sure that you didnt end up using a different email address for the account you have the games on? Ive heard of people having 2 accounts, one with no games and another one with their games on that they ended up settling on for whatever reason.

I have used about 5 emails over the last 15 years, and still have access to all of them. I did the password recovery on all 5 (which means if you have an account you get an email). 2 emails came through, so one of those had my games with it, however no games with both.

I do have my username and now password and I have the correct account (as it is under the username I played BF with) but no games and EA so far haven't recovered them. Yes I didn't play them recently but I think that's beside the point surely? If you buy games, especially in an online platform then they should just stay there.

I may take it further as suggested but whether its worth the hassle for a game I had an itch to play I haven't decided yet. Thanks for the responses at least I have a few options on how to raise it further!

Seeing these threads makes me dislike EA even more. Lucky for me I have spent nearly diddly squat on my account so even if I did one day log in to find all my stuff gone, I would not care too much. If it was not for the FIFA 19 demo which I play when a mate comes around, I would not even have origin installed at all.

Slight update, I remembered the name of my mate who I used to play this with and who I had a platoon with, searched for his name on Battlelog, found it and found the platoon with another random member with a completely different name but also linked to my old Xbox account with my name! Seems my account was hacked...back on to EA live chat.

Set up two stage verification on your account if you get in. At least that way you'll get an email when some scumbag is trying to get in to your account again!

Mine is largely redundant and with no payments set up so I don't panic but this only seems to happen with my EA account.

All sorted! 2 Step verification enabled to my mobile. Name etc all changed back. He had 3 offline friends in his friend list to which I sent a message:

'Hello, Just letting you know RoastDuck no longer has access to my stolen account if you speak to him some other way tell him he is a thief and I will enjoy using the shortcuts he bought on my account!'

Petty, yes but felt good, all unfriended now.
