Anyone else waiting for silent hunter 5 to be released ??

I am as I have loved all the previous Silent Hunter games :D

I found it quite funny that in the trailer on their official site, the captain of the uboat has an American accent. They could have at least used a German actor :p
 
I've always been a fan of naval warfare, but have never played the Silent Hunter series.

Are they realistic sims, or just arcadey click and fire?

Silent Hunter 3 with the Grey Wolves mod if you like realism. It is a free (fantastic) mod and the manual alone is 600 pages. Also improves the visuals greatly.
 
Can hardly wait for it's release.

Loved the other two games, and I'm delighted we're heading back into the atlantic again with the U-boats.

Hard to believe that 'Visual effects and water' screenie isn't touched up though, as the explosion effect looks immense. Far better than in SH4.

well my new copy of Silent Hunter 3 arrived today! Never played the games before but love Crimson Tide, Hunt for Red October and Das Boot so thought might be worth a try.

I hear you can play it in real time......wonder if anyone has turned their living room into a mock sub and then got their mates round as ballast.
 
Don't forget the Grey Wolves mod if you have SH3. It's very very good :)

Whether SH5 comes close to that who knows, the graphics alone will blow previous versions away though. Permanent connection for single player is just nuts, hopefully that will get resolved but I won't hold my breath. Being able to walk around the sub in 1st person is going to be great though. Once the mods start coming out though to sort out some of the niggles so far I think this is going to rock big time :D
