Anyone excited for windows phone 7?

I don't see the problem with alienating existing winmo customers. Yes, its purely a business tool, but it's a relatively poor one when compared to the competition. They're trying to take customers away from android and iPhone customers... I think they could do quite well

It's a bit like saying Windows Vista/7 is rubbish because Windows ME was poor...:p

Having used WM2003 then saying WM7 would be rubbish is more along the same lines, not having used every OS since 2003 up until the current one like I had.

Everytime there is a major WM release it's the next greatest thing and each time it fails to live up to the hype. I went though this 5 times and each one was not the super OS it was touted to be.

Have you actually read or seen anything about windows phone 7?:p

Yes I have and my above point still stands.

No, your point doesn't stand at all.

Windows Mobile 2003 through to Windows Mobile 6.5 were all the same base subsystem, all merely evolutions of the same platform, without any real changes behind the scenes AT ALL. There were no "major WM relases" of which you speak.

Windows PHONE 7 (note, phone, not mobile) isn't based on the same platform in any way.

What you are doing is the same as shunning Windows 7 because you dislike Windows XP.

Not quite. You run Android from Windows, not sure quite how it works but it's apparently just as fast as the Desire etc.

Haven't done it on my HD yet (not going to be as fast as the HD) as I need to install linux somewhere to format my SD card so Android will run.
Eh?

You don't need to format your SD card if it can already be accessed from your HD2. You just copy the files across, run clrad and then haret... thats it!

For the HD it appears you need to format it to Linux's file system. At least the two releases I've looked at. With the HD2 I don't know?

Lets get this into perspective shall we - Vista and it's new kernel was supposed to have been an improvement on the mature kernel XP was running? Granted that Windows 7 is finally hitting the mark, but only took them about 15 years of development of one of their main platforms to get it right.

If the older Windows CE / Mobile OS still still not running right what make you think MS will get it right this time? Plenty of tech sites have previewed it and the response has been lukewarm.

As the OP asked "Who is excited for windows phone 7"....
I for one will not be spending any more time, money or effort when there are other alternatives that work for me.

Windows phone 7??...looks interesting but ill never ever EVER use another Winmo phone for as long as i live...ive said it before and ill say it again...M$ should just give up on mobile OS's and just stick to windows on PC tbqh.

I actually cringe when i see people with Winmo phones...how they can live with such a terrible OS is beyond me.

paradigm, this is exactly why they should have removed the 'Windows' from the name. Not even getting a chance from some people

imo, of course :)

LOL ive given Window phones more than enough chances mate;)...and tbh ill stay away from them even if they are good...i just dont trust M$ to come up with anything good/decent regarding mobile OS's...its no wonder that BB's, iphones and Androids are doing much better in the smartphone market than Winmo is....theres a reason for that.

But hey if this Windows 7 is the business then good on M$...its taken them long enough to get something half decent out that could possibly compete with Android, Apple and RIM.

I think that no matter how good this is, Microsoft are already too far behind Apple, RIM and Google. It will be a pain to get developer networks going in full force for Apps and such to keep up among other things.

You never know though!

And another article on Engadget mentions accessories for the "HD7" available at the beginning of November, added to the fact WinPho is supposed to be released on the 16th(ish) of October I wonder even more why the WinPho phones weren't displayed at yesterdays event?

Have HTC got another event lined up very shortly as it looks like the phones will be released in about a months time, pretty much the same time as the Desire HD and Z...

I did wonder if the plain colours would get a bit boring after a while but the bright panels from other software developers really makes it look nice. However I just realised where they stole the design for the main screen from.... X1 Panels anyone?... :p
