Anyone feeling a bit down now the Olympics is over?

I think this is the first time I've ever enjoyed the Olympics. The atmosphere in London has been really great the past couple of weeks. Like many I was expecting the entire thing to be an utter omnishambles but I was proved wrong.

The closing ceremony was embarassing though, that Jessie J character is terrible.

Great british music, eh.

Where was Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest. The country that invented metal and not a bit of those three legends.

Sport.

This is a geek forum in case you hadn't noticed.

Not generally known for their sports fans...

it wasn't just about sport though, it was a fantastic achievement for us as a country, the games were a huge success, will no doubt been fantastic for the economy. It was about us as a country, uniting, and the world as a whole uniting. I'll be honest, i am feeling a little empty inside now it's all over, it has made me proud to be British again, we did a damn good job, and showed the world how welcoming, and competitive we are. Well done Britain!

I will miss it, but I was just becoming olympic'd out by yesterday. Saying that I took a week off to chill at home last week watching it.

Generally it was awesome, its great that for once a decent number of other sports than footbore sorry football got some primetime coverage and that you could turn the TV on without useless drivel (eastenders etc) being shown.

I watched quite a few sports that I never would normally watch, pentathlon, triathlon, open water swimming to name a few.

Only let down for me was the closing ceremony, was poor really, I remember thinking the China closing ceremony was great.

I think there will be some true momentum for sport again in the uk, I truly hope we actually get some more coverage on the BBC of some other sports.

I feel truly sorry for people who avoided the olympics, the feel good factor was clear to see, so many people seemed really up and positive who have been watching it, I cannot remember feeling that people were just happier after any previous event. Maybe slightly after Bejing, but generally most general media covered sports we do not do particularly well at.

I dont particularly like sport. But I thought it was great, watched tons of sport. Its kind of wrong(its not wrong) if you think about how many medals we won compared to other countries, gdps and populations. We're like a small island with lots of concentrated talent.

I'm glad its over though, its infrequency makes it more special.

I'll certainly miss the evening sessions in the stadium which I've been tuning into religously since the track and field events started, didn't get to watch much daytime footage due to being either at work or sleeping off nightshifts.

I didn't think I was going to enjoy it that much, but I found it quite fun actually. I didn't watch it all the time, but the bit I did were quite good. Also, I'm glad the UK did so well!

Once the news calms down and stops mentioning the closing ceremony every five seconds, I'll be fine. In deed, my 'come down' is almost done.

The athletics fan in me is already soothed by the fact it's (just) under a year to the World Championships. :o

I will miss it on TV and I will miss going to the Olympic stadium but I can’t complain as I will have some wonderful memories.

Same here. It had a good effect on London too. It became just tolerable enough to warrant me doing two visits. :p

Won't miss it at all. Fed up of all the crap sports taking over the telly, and especially if it's costing me money from the ripoff licence fee.

If you want to pummel your customers with sport, make a BBC Sport channel so that those of us that couldn't care less don't have to deal with it.

As someone else mentioned, couldn't even watch the news (BBC or Sky) without having the bulk of it talking about the Olympics.

Utter drivel

My main gripe, and consequently why I am slightly upset it's over is the commerardary.
It was nice to see something on television with a good natured competitive feel.

The news in particular was happy, even with the sad news of that little girl, it barely got airtime because the news was about success and triumph, about the human spirit of trying hard and receiving notoriety for your work. Mo Farah story in particular touched me and hopefully raised the spirits of a lot of people who feel they are disadvantages and can do nothing with their lives.

In a nut shell rather than the bleek outlook on life drumming us down and stepping on our dreams, for a brief moment, we all thought well maybe there hope and that life isn't all so bad.

Maybe I way over analysed the whole thing. :D

At least it's kept the recession out of the news, it was depressing enough hearing about how bad we are economically, it was nice to have something a bit different to chat about.

Problem is. Just like after any party... when you start to clear up the mess, you realise how much **** you've had to deal with and how much more **** you've got to now get on with....

Yep, I'm feeling down now its over. It's something that only happens every 4 years so I pretty much watched it every moment I could, or if I missed an event I would watch the stream on the BBC website.

I dont usually watch any TV at all, apart from a few TV shows that I download. So it's been great to finally get some use out of my TV that I paid loads of money for and never use :p.

I also dont usually like any sports, bar downhill mountain biking, so it's strange that I have got so into this. I guess this is what it is like for football fans, but thats one sport I detest and will never be able to like.
