Anyone got a Quad in a P5N-E SLI?

I've got a Q6600 in a Gigabyte N650i-DS4 and it clocks fine to 333MHz - after that it's a washout I'm afraid. As the Gigabyte has 6-phase power and a much better VRM, I wouldn't hold out much hope for the ASUS I'm afraid.

Hmm, well after doing a bit of digging, it seems people are getting Q6600 chips up to 3Ghz in the P5N-E SLI

I think im gonna get one then get a new mobo afterwards if needs be as i can flog my current chip to offset the cost a bit :)

I have the system in my sig, but before I lap the CPU I can fire it into a P5N-E SLi that I have laying about if you want me to see what clocks I can get? Would have to be stock cooler though in a cramped case as I'm not faffing around removing my watercooling out of my Lian Li!

Yeah that would be great, needs to have the 0608 BIOS on it tho. If you can get it to 3Ghz that would be fab :)

OK mate, I'll have a bash at it tomorrow afternoon. IIRC that's the BIOS I have on already, read it was the most stable.

Right mate, was playing around with this earlier today. Managed to get 2 hours prime stabe at 3.2 Ghz 1.55VCore 1.48 CPU=Z, took it all out after that. Temp were high 60's low 70's. Could not get it to post above this even if I raised VCore more. Bear in mind it's a cramped and small case that I put it in so airflow wasn't terribly good, plus that's with the stock cooler.

Much appriciated matey. Is yours a B3 or a G0 revision?

G0 mate. Since I didn't elaborate on it, Prime didn't fail, I just shut it down as my lapping kit came through and some new HDDs so I'm prepping my Q6600 rig atm.
