Anyone got an idea for my homework?

I've started a photography course one nighht a week at the local school.

This week was about how cameras work, dipping into apeture and shutters.

For homework we were asked for an abstract picture using something we'd learnt about.

My thoughts are either something with a short DOF of something with a long exposure.

The old running water shot springs to mind but its not a new idea

Any sugestions?

Do you mind me asking what you are shooting with? I was thinking maybe something that shows Bokeh would be something to look at?

Find some wet, well lit grass, open up the aperture, get close, and get as much bokeh as you can.

That's all very well but not many people have a full frame camera and an f/1.4 lens.

What Lenses do you have The_blue

Could always do a long exposure star trail shot?

It's possible to get plenty of bokeh even on my 18-55IS kit lens on a 450D

Nope. Camera on table. set it on delay.

Are you sure you had your focal point set correct? Certainly the dog looks still enough, but as you said it is soft but the sheets its lying on, around its head anyway appear nice and crisp.

You should crop it in from the left a smidge tho from a composition perspective.

I'm thinking the softness might just be the dog moving/breathing.

Bokeh attempt. Not having much luck getting narrow DOF on stock lens.
