i purchased from a used shop a 3 game bundle(3 discs 1 case type) that consists of Grid/CM Dirt/Fuel the other week, it was only £3 and been wanting to play grid since i got a wheel few weeks prior.

anyways Dirt works fine though maybe my wheel or just the game physics are not really best for wheels lol, only installed fuel and not bothered with it yet, but grid works then stops, it goes through the intros, but when you go to launch a race i get 'exe has stopped working' and it always does this at the same point in the game, i tried compatibility at one stage as the error first started in the main menu and got to the loading screen for a race which is where its stuck at.

mean it might not be OS related, but i have no idea how to get it to work and so wondering if anyone might be able to help? :D

many thanks.

grid executable i meant sorry.

thanks for replies and its a standalone disc version, it wouldve cost more for the game than it did for all 3 if i went through steam.

i did look up patches when i was trying to find a solution and i skipped straight to 1.3 and nothing changed, i am now currently reinstalling the game to see if that makes any difference.

is it a Grid thing because dirt works fine though cant remember if needed compatibility mode???

i followed the link, downloaded and installed the patch, but still get the same 'Grid executable' error when i try to open race world(which is actually where i meant, not an actual race).

what are my other options?

Grid online was shutdown a while ago m8
think u can play lan though or though another source if i remember ;)

thanks for reply, but im not trying to play online, its that old i dont expect anyone to still play, certainly not on pc anyways, i just want to start a race full stop lol

Just fired up Grid on my main PC (Win10 64bit) and it's running perfectly. Opened the Grid World option and got into a race as soon as the intro finished. Even tried the Multiplayer > Online option to see if I could cause a crash, but it just gracefully failed to allow me to create an account.

Try deleting/renaming your Documents/Codemasters/GRID folder, then restarting the game to see if it's a retained dodgy setting that's causing issues.

Other than that, the only other suggestion is to use a noCD executable (and rdl.dll) for Grid v1.3 to see if it's an issue with the protection system (all my game discs are buried somewhere in the loft, so I'm running a noCD version on GRID as I haven't re-bought on Steam).

Let us know how you get on, but fingers crossed you get it sorted. GRID is still a great looking game, and always popular at LAN weekends.

okay thanks for reply i will give this a try.
