Anyone had a fake Sandisk Extreme CF 4GB card?

My mate accidentally purchased 3 X 4GB cards off our friendly auction site and wants to sell one. I'm interested but worried about fakes.

He's offered me a choice of either a used card from the UK or a brand new card from HK. Both boxes and cards look identical except the HL card has a hologram on the box.

I've suggested we should spped test them which he's happy to do.

ANyone been stung with a fake Extreme yet?

I'm not sure about the Extreme cards, i'm sure there are fakes out there, but probably not as common as the Ultras. The hologram is certainly encouraging!

But speed tests are definately the way to go

ah, my bad - misread as ultra :/

If people are making lots of fake ultras though, I see no reason they wouldn't be making extremes, too...

As well as the speed test you could also ring Sandisk and get them to check the serial number. I did on my fake Ultra II, took less than 30 seconds.

Sandisk's UK number is 0207-3654-193.
