All good here. The cost is what it is. We use it 3 times a week on average, it’s brilliant for socialising and sport recovery.

I am about to move it into an outdoor shelter with an insulated concrete pad so I ll see some savings hopefully.

Can anyone give me an indicative cost for running an inflatable one? (something that would hold 5 people comfortably).

Also why do people call the glorified blowup paddling pools hot tubs!? Are hot tubes not the static insulated things you get at a spar or something?

Its hard to say. I would estimate between £2 and £4 a day depending on heat loss. So £4 in winter and £2 in summer. Another way to look at it £5 to £10 a week. The problem is it all comes down to how much you use it and how many hours/day it is switched on. What ever number they say it holds reduce it by 1. I would get a 6 person hot tub for 5 people.

Hot tubs aren’t really for everyone.

Baths are a poor way to wash, hot tubs aren’t for washing. Showers are superior for washing.

A bath isn’t outside, can’t fit multiple people nor does it have tons of powerful jets to massage muscles.

Its not the same thing remotely apart from that they both contain water and if looked after correctly a bath is not cleaner. Hot Tubs are more social and the health and other benefits are far greater then a bath. I don't get the pain relief from a bath like I do in a hot tub. The inflatable glorified blowup paddling pools have gadgets and heaters attached to them making them more then paddling pools.

Hot tubs run at much higher temperature then a bath and they maintain that temperature. Prolonged exposure to being submerged at high temperature has a number of positive effects on the body which we don't get from baths. The temperature positively effects blood pressure, heart beat, relaxes muscles, relives tension, opens up sinus for better sense of smell and more like helping to sleep better. The jets are not just for bubbles they release tension. Sitting in a 40C hot tub for 45min under the stars at night is a completely different expreince from a bath and the effects on the body are massively different then a bath.

This doesnt even go into the social side.

EDIT: To give you an idea on the difference I don't care for baths and am happy to go years without a bath even before I had a hot tub, sticking to showers. But I would use a hot tub x3 a week.

First hot tub clean in 6 months. Hasn’t kept too bad over the winter. Pool pump and wet vac always makes it so quick to empty and clean. Looking forward to some bank holiday hot tubbing

As Pottsey says, a couple of quid a day in summer.
We had a 5 person one and you wouldn't get 4 people in it. Would put it away in the winter, cost wasn't worth it running.

A proper one is cheaper to run and more comfortable but the initial outlay is higher but some places might offer interest free credit and you may need an outdoor circuit put in which you will have to arrange.

Went to unplug the hot tub this evening and thought the plug was a bit hot. Turns out a small part of it has melted. Looks like the fuse contacts have corroded, so will change the plug tomorrow.

I guess it’s been a while since the tub has been on this long while warming up a new batch of water and the plug has clearly deteriorated since I last did this.

On the plus side the new water has settled bang on where I want it. It’ll likely need some fine tuning in the coming days/weeks.

Yours is a plug in like a regular 3 pin? Mine had to be wired up directly to the isolation switch mounted outside.

Yes, 13A plug in version. Was all that we could get hold of during the first lockdown. Plugged into an outside wall socket.
