Hope im allowed to post certain auction sites here, but if im not to be on the safe side theres a '280142043574' somewhere in the URL

basically seems quite cheap, 950 for a 99 reg pug 306 XSi (2 litre injection)

i made a thread about 306s before and what to look out for, so will have to give it a full run over when i view it, if i do, but there are 2 things that i can see that lower the price, A, the color (eughh...) and also, B, the high miles (110k).

the color isnt an issue to me really, but the miles are, i understand a 1 litre micra engine would probably blow at 110k, but is it true that bigger engines can drive more miles before packing in? ive little experience when it comes to cars, and im tempted to go and view it, he says it drives fine, but is 110k a little high? even for a 2 litre car?

main problem is i want it to last me ideally for 3-4 years, maybe more if possible runnin maybe 8k a year, but ive no idea if the engine will be good for 200k, or will go pop as soon as i get half way around the block?

Unless you can get down and drive it, I would leave it. Although the cars can do a higher mileage. It all depends on how it's been driven and serviced. Also it's more likely electronics, suspension and other things are starting to break/wear down.

Most engines can do very high milage these days if looked after. No idea what the 306 is like. It's just all the other components.

I'm affraid thats the risk you take its as simple as that!

It might go bang tomorrow it might last 500,000 miles, depends on the engine in question, how its been treated and serviced.

The problem with a french car at 110,000 miles isn't going to be the engine.

The engine will probably outlast the rest of the car.

My 1.4 306 was just shy of 118k when I got shot of it and the engine was fine in that. It did need/would have needed soon- new fuel pump, clutch, suspension bits, discs. The guy who bought it was happy doing all this as and when it came up, if your happy to do the same it would be worth a punt but get a decent test drive first :)

doh! looks like its a nice 100 mile round trip then to see if its any good, better be worth it!
Phone the seller and explain this to them, ask any questions you want answered and make it clear (in a friendly way) that you really don't want a wasted trip. If the car is genuine the seller will be happy to answer any questions.

K11 Micra engines will go on far beyond 110k, its usually the bodywork on Micras that lets them down.

Agree'd, as people have already said, suspension parts will probably be well worn and it may have a few electrical gremlins.
