Anyone have parking wars with their neighbours?

Our house/road is on the edge of a 1950s council estate which has been transitioning away from council owned into being more predominantly privately owned.

The development was a product of its time, when the car wasn’t as prolific as it is now. So the majority of the roads are only wide enough to realistically accommodate one row of cars being parked fully on the road. However people park on both sides of the road so inevitably end up parking half up onto the foot path to still leave enough room on the road for vehicles to get through. I suspect that this could be mitigated somewhat by making some of the roads one way. With a bit of planning a one way system could definitely be implemented in several areas, however I doubt the local council would be interested in doing this.

What strikes me is that the vast majority of these houses could (at a cost obviously) convert their front gardens to driveways for 2-3 cars easily. Being a post war housing development built by the council the front gardens are quite generously sized compared to newer developments in the area.

I suspect that more front gardens will go this way but I’m still a bit surprised by how many are still gardens with grass and flowers and the like.
