Ive had my build for about 5 months now and had a crazy time with it, first I will say what Ive got:

Gigabyte EP43-DS3 Motherboard
Intel Dual-core CPU at 2.50 ghz
4gb Memory
ATI radeon HD3850X2 graphics card
600w PSU (from an old build about 4 years ago)
WD 500gb HDD

Right so thats my bits and that all placed in a very old Antec P183 which is NOT the newer version of that model Its in very bad shape and only has 2 fans, 1 cooling the PSU and an extracter fan...

Now I actually am seeking help as in someone who could take my computer and fix it up, The main problems in the computer is that the graphics card makes a god awful noise when the fans start, not the fan noise itself but something like a squeel of some kind and ive never been able to stop it, Also in the gfx card ive got a 6 pin in a 8 pin slot which I dont know if causes problems or not, Also I would supply a new case, this antec just doesnt cut it anymore...and I have got cables everywhere and its just plain awful...

I know overclockers buildis PC's but was told they wouldnt do this kind of service although every part was purchased from them, So im looking for someone who is very good at builds and knows what to do that could do this for me, Im happy to pay and would love advice on what extras I need to buy to make it a good PC. I live in Stoke on Trent.

Sorry if this is wrong forum area :/

Hi does your pc work at all?

From what you are describing the graphics card is not getting enough power either by way of not having the connectors plugged in ( 6 pin and 8 pin pci express) ,check all your connections to the card, and if two lots are needed make sure both are plugged in,the card would make that awful squealing noise if it wasn't getting enough power.

Well on the GFX card there is 2 power slots both 8 pin, but in the gfx card manual it said that 1 8pin and 1 6pin would be fine, I dont have another 8 pin on the PSU but saw this a bit ago :
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CB-033-AK&groupid=701&catid=48&subcat=153
which is a 6pin to 8pin convert BUT I was confused wouldnt I be just getting the same power as the 6 pin just in a 8pin format or would this give me a boost of power to the GFX card?

So you have plugged in at the moment an 8 pin and a 6 pin, this is what you have plugged in to your card,if so this should be fine..

By the way that pci express converter would not work at all, that just converts the 6 pins into an entirely different connection which is the 8 pin 12 volt atx on your motherboard, not your gpu.

As long as your psu has the 8 pin and the 6 pin connections and you have these both plugged in then you should be good to go as long as your psu is up to the job with the power requirements..

What is the make and model of your psu? The 3850X2s were pretty power hungry cards, and if that psu isn't up to scratch it could cause you no end of problems.
