Anyone here go to church?

I went for a christning a couple of years back, some of the songs are really disturbing. God sounds like Hitler... not for me.

I know what you mean. I've also found the funerals I've attended recently to be focused more on god than on the person who'd just died.

Weddings and funerals only for me.
Not in the least bit religious as to be honest, I find it a form of brain washing. But that's another story.

I have been to a Christian funeral once, I really didn't like the fact that about half of it was passages. For my funeral I would just want a few passages to be read out and then sing my favorite song.

yeah, they tend to make it all about how awesome god is.

i expect people to play some music i loved, have a laugh and get merry, not talk about something i didn't believe in

All they do is read out passages and that stuff! I thought, frankly, that it ridiculed my grandfather's memory.

Was brought up going to church, anyone else. Have you stayed, rebelled etc? I miss it and wish i had followed the path.

Went to Sunday school a couple of times as a young kid. I hated it and thought it was stupid. My parents accepted this and I never went again, and I have had no involvement with the church since. Delighted with my decision at such a young age. Wise beyond my years.

Sometimes, my parents go every week (more for the music though as my mum is in charge of music there). I usually go at Christmas and Easter.

Went every week as a child but stopped in my very early teens. Since then I've been to the odd one, just for the atmosphere - I'm in no way a believer, but it's nice at times.

I've been to church a few times, I found it boring as sin.

Therefore not going to church made me a better Christian.
