Anyone know anything about Air Compressors?

most tools have "tap" also to regulate the amount of air coming through, make sure that's set to fully open as well as the one on the tank as pictured above.

When you turn the knob on the tank, the secondary gauge does go right up to 90psi to match the primary gauge one doesn't it?

I will try that tomorrow, there are two guages but from what I can gather I think they are for each output.

Normally you have tank pressure and outlet pressure..

Also make sure the tool has a little oil in it, if it's been sitting on the shelf for a long time or second hand it might have a bit of corrosion on the vanes and then they don't turn very well when you first fire it up.

and another thing...... :D

The forward backward lever on the impact wrench, if not pushed fully either way will also confuse the issue, make sure you shove it in fully one way or the other.

I've always found those cheap yellow coily air hoses very restrictive on air supply - use a proper rubber hose.
Not to mention trying to get round the other side of a vehicle, forever getting stuck under tyres and what not.
Much better to have a normal hose and give it a flick in the right direction, at least it stays where you put it instead of trying to coil back up

Well this compressor is crap, Windy Gun barely does wheel bolts so I phoned the supplier and he reckons it does.

Anyway maybe this one is fault, I want to return it and if he won't accept I'll do a chargeback on his ass!

Maybe it's a duff tool then.
Can't be the compressor specifically, as I said before, 90 psi is 90 psi.
In my garage (at home) I have a crappy 50L one with a direct drive motor on it, loudest little mo fo I've heard and a crappy clark impact gun to match.

You can tell it's cheap **** in comparison to the 500L screw drive compressor and the Titanium Ingersol rand gun I use at work BUT..
It'll still undo what it's meant to undo...
In fact I'll be out in that freezing cess pit of a garage shortly to fix my rear brakes so I'll relay the exact output of the thing.

Well this Compressor won't even run the saw or Air Rachet, so must be the compressor no?

I've got a 50ft line, do you think that makes a difference?

All the compressor is doing is filling the tank, Once that is at 90psi it's at 90psi. If the regulator is working ok and you have no kinks or blockages in the line.. Your tool should work for as long as something close to 90psi is in the tank.

Do they start off working ok for a few seconds? or just crap from the get go?

Start of working ok for a second or two max, then just crap.

90 PSI is more than enough to work a wheel gun for a fair time. I disassembled a whole 205 rear beam one one fill from my 50 litre compressor! That's using an el cheapo gun and an el cheapo yellow hose.

I'd go out and test it for you now to see just how long it works for (enough to take off 4 wheel bolts minimum unless they were done up by Garth) but I overbalanced doing some welding the other week and one of the air delivery pipes broke my fall :(

Definitely sounds like something wrong outside of the compressor itself mate!

Once you connect that 50ft line then that gets added to the tank capacity at 90 psi.

Something sounds amiss somewhere, I'll try and do a video in a mo of how long my 50L lasts before starting to die, it's about a minute at a guess, compressor kicks back in after about 10-15 secs of full bore usage with the gun.

Ooops too much of a rush there, I forgot to mention the tool pressure tap.
That knob I push in on the gun, it also turns, that's the pressure tap.
Pull the trigger in and turn this tap/knob until the gun goes as fast as possible in fresh air.

I had (still have) a 25 litre 2.5hp compressor at home. It was OK to spray with, and I could even run the sander with it for short periods, keeping the pressure (against the vehcile) light and being gentle with the air regulator. Enough to do a bonnet and a roof smooth enough to respray anyway.

However, I now need something a bit sturdier, so I sorted out a 200 litre 5.5 hp petrol compressor. I think that provides around 12CFM at up to 10 bar. Hopefully that'll run the sander and angle grinder enough for what I need.
