Hi all,

Well I've managed to get tickets for the one off Angels & Airwaves gig at London Astoria for August 24th. I dont drive so I'm having to get a coach there, I've been on the national express website and after a lot of postcode inputting it seems that the closest stop to the Astoria is Picadilly Circus. So I just need to now find a cheap hotel or a B&B, I prefer the hotel or B&B to near Picadilly Circus rather than the Astoria as its just easier. I dont want to be having to get taxi's everywhere, as it is London we're talking about.
I have been on lots of websites but they havent proven too helpful, I just need someones knowledge really. I dont want to be spending a lot of money really, I just want to go and enjoy the gig and have a bed to sleep in after it lol. There will be 2 of us going.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Em

right this is what u are going to do.

Get a b&b in finsbury park. Then get the tube to totteham court road. very simple and easy. You could even get the no 19 bus which goes to picadilly

this is a simple solution .

totteham court road is right next to the astoria.

Is it cheaper at Finsbury park then? or just easier? And thank you for your help. So If I get I b&b there where should I get off the coach, at Picadilly still? Cos it stop in lots of places, if you go on the nationalexpress website you can see how many places it stops in. I just want a b&b kind of close to where I'd get off the coach

Thanks

Finsbury Park bruvs??? You having a pickle? After Astoria thats effort on the tube to get there, then back again to Piccadilly Circus to catch the coach home. Thats two days worth of tube fares, which *** be close to the difference on a hotel.

My advice. Stay somewhere close to the Astoria, so you can leave the gig and go to your hotel. Then in the morning or whatever u can get a tube/bus to where u pick up your coach in due time. Any faffin about is better done after a nights sleep, in daylight, as apposed to tryna get from the Astoria, to Finsbury park at 11pm, if youre new in town.

Look, The Astoria a few yards off the corner of Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Street. It's right outside the Tottenham Court Road underground. Stay somewhere round there, even if you end up paying a bit more, then you have good travel connections (and something to do) for the next day.

Quick google: http://www.bedandbreakfasts.co.uk/propertysearch.asp?location=Tottenham+Court+Road

'A' is very close, but id say in the £90ish region. Nice place tho. Check it out.

ps. I duno why I helped... Mr Tom Delonge is sucking these days, bring back Dude Ranch.

Cheap and very easy option is this:

August 24th (1 night)

Journey's Inn Waterloo with shared bathroom - Twin - £20pp / Double £25pp

You can walk to the Astoria in about 15/20 mins max. (I know cos I live in Waterloo and trust me I don't use the tube at all to get about in Central.)

Also plenty of night buses going from that area to Waterloo.

Alternatives:

YHA Soho (just off Oxford street so uber close to Astoria)
£25 pp twin with shared bathroom

Bankside Residence (near southbank, around 20 mins to walk to Astoria)
£33.50 pp for twin, private ensuite

Piccadilly Backpackers Hotel (in Piccadilly)
£33pp double bed, shared bathroom

Details, reviews and loads of other choices on http://www.hostelworld.com

Also check out http://bookings.travelstay.com/KingsCollegeLondonBooking.htm and look for Stamford Street, Waterloo. Single rooms, private ensuite and again only 15/20 mins max to Astoria. (with the help of a simple map it is super easy to navigate into central from Waterloo). Price is £39 pp without discount, if you are under 26 or a student the price is £32 pp. Rooms are decent and 24 hour security / access etc. It's pretty decent for the money. I should mention I have lived there and worked there also so I am a bit biased :p . (Its a student halls of res during the term time, rented out as a hotel during the summer.)

Any questions or queries feel free to message me.

Just came back from three days in London to see a show amongst other things.

Used a nice B&B 5 mins from the coach station near Victoria. £53/night for a double, good breakfast. Use the underground to Piccadilly very easy. Taxi back after the show was just over a tenner.
