anyone know much about late clios? (coolant loss)

hi there.

my little brother has a 1.2 16v clio (maybe 2003 model) and it has started to lose coolant, needs topping up once a week. the anti freeze is so diluted that the coolant is just brown and rusty coloured.

im gonna flush all that for him but first need to source/fix the leak. any common leaks on these monsters?

Any external leaks seen? Puddles under the car? Stains on the engine?

when id got there hed just topped it up... so there was water everywhere under the car lol thats the reason i asked him, i thought it had dumped all the coolant... but it was his cack handed filling up.

i got the impression hed been having to do that a long time... id rather fix a leak for him now than have to put the core plugs back in when it gets really cold!

Well, if no external leaks are found, then it has to be an internal issue. Head gasket etc etc

water pumps are weak on those, you will need to get underneath it to tell.

ive just registered on the cliosport site... seems that where the top rad hose joins the rad, that can crack. also water pumps... water pump is a bit more of a pig if its a leccy one.

will need to have a look when he hasnt just gone and soaked everything lol
