Anyone recommend an engine shop or garage in Midlands?

Hi,

Well my engine is in bad condition. So can anyone recommend somewhere where I can go for a full rebuild of the lump, or fitting a new one? Needs to be fairly close as I'd have to pay for it to be trailered there.

Most probably a regrind of crank etc. Major stuff really that I don't have the space to do.

anywhere near evesham. there's the evesham engine centre i can post the phone number if you want.

good guys we do about £40,000 a year with them.

Where in the midlands?

Dudley engine centre or the Black country engine guys seem to have a decent rep

I'm in Loughborough right now, so Leicestershire.

penski, Got a few contacts, trying to find everywhere possible.

Sone, Myself? If so then about 1500 miles I would guess. Overall the car is 96000 miles.

Dogbreath, My parents would actually kill me if I did that. :p

PJ motorsport in Willenhall/Wolverhampton.

I cannot rate these guys highly enough. He is primarily a cosworth/rs tuner that also caters for jap crap now, but is more than happy and skilled working on any engine.

Full machine facilities, mapping/carb work, engine building etc, and has a dyno dynamics hub rolling road with all the gas analysis equipment for setting up.

You will not be disappointed.

Got an oil pump failure, went in such a way that I could have been running on low oil pressure (but enough to keep oil light off) for a while really. Knackered the crank and bearings most probably. Just needs a full rebuild. Put it this way, when the knocking started, oil light came on. If I recall correctly it comes on when there is less than ~8 psi of oil pressure, or something stupidly low. Now with a new pump its running 58psi, which is spot on.

Also how much do you think it will be for porting? And what porting is worth it you think?

Edit - Yeah for the Dolomite Sprint.

How much are used engines? Might be a lot less expense, time and hassle to fit a replacement.

Not wanting to go down that route. Few reasons really.

1) I am not that brilliant at picking out good engines.

2) Transportation, space and knowledge to fit an engine myself is not good enough.

3) By using a shop to recon the engine, parents will pay for 50% of it.

If you can beg/borrow/steal a hoist I'd come over and help you put it in, no worries.

Hoist is no worries, I get 75% off hire at Travis Perkins, so makes it £15 a week.

The road there is where I'd have to take the engine out...
