It was a road safety / cycling safety advert from around 30yrs ago perhaps (might not be that long ago

It was in an animated format where an old man (with a beard and wearing a hat i think) is riding a bike along roads and demonstrating hand signals and good riding skills - the line that sticks in my head is something like this "and thats why he's stayed alive for so long..."
Anyone remember this, everytime i mention it to my mates they just give me blank stares.
