Anyone still play Total Annihilation

Too easy to tank rush, but yeah it was a helluva game.

Not really. Dragon's teeth + wall of missile towers (both quicker and cheaper to build than L1 tanks) = dead tanks. Not to mention a D-Gun will make short work of an unsupported attack.

Edit: plus the defender has the advantage of radar cover..

However, it's not a better game. Total Annihilation's AI was very, VERY poor in many respects; apparently the AI was able to build nuclear missile launchers but it didn't know how to build missiles INSIDE the silos :D

I think i played the AI for maybe a week until i found out about boneyards :D The best thing about TA is the online battles. It's actually better now because everyone has the connection and machine to support it. I played a 3 vs 3 last night on John's Pass and it was pretty cool.

You don't play strategy games against AI as it removes the strategy element.

Agreed. Here you can download maps, units and the WarZone online client. It's all free!

Your right but a well coordinated sub 3 min flash attack can be very frustrating - just like a sub 2 min bomber on a sea map! You can easily combat rushing strategies though.

Cheers for all the comments so far guys!

Flashes backed up by Samsons are very nasty things to face, but if you use samsons\slashers and keep falling back as you target you'll create a lot of wreckage for them to manuver around. Reclaim that and it'll allow commander-assisted production for a bit :)

Krogoth.

Intimidators. By the dozen.

:D

Legions of Crashers in an early rush attempt.

Massed squadrons of Rapiers (so many it cranked the network to a standstill) blasting acres of enemy land forces into so much scrap metal.

The 48 hour lan turtle marathon that ended with about 20 minutes of solid nuclear missile launching from all players.

Then the 2 hour search for that last little metal extractor after you've killed everything else.

TA was my first and favourite pc game. Pity I've not been able to find a copy of TA/Core contingency/Battle tactics, except for silly money. Happy days.

Turtling in TA was unreal, so funny

me and matt had a LAN game on TA from like 1pm till 9pm or something because we just couldn't get into eachothers bases (metal isle, 5000 unit limit, CC and BT) thats the only problem with TA, sometimes theres just no way into a base, same goes for supreme commander

Just position a Bertha\Vulcan in range, and shell away ;)

recently i've given up after around the 2 hour mark but in general, where there a will there a way. Nukes are always fun :)

Also, just got a new 22 inch samsung so that should help with some of the bigger maps !
