If you're after good upgraded bulbs the Osram brand seems to be well regarded.
If you want to "attempt" a HID look via bulbs alone the Philips line seems to be what people recommend.

I was reading around on another forum and somebody was using PIAA Extreme White Plus bulbs.
The pictures he had posted showed a very white light, certainly "HID looking" and the amount of light thrown on the road appeared impressive too.

Possibly compromise - not the "best" bulb in the world, but not too bad at HID impression (for looks).
Anyone here using PIAA bulbs? Opinion?

i reckon PIAA make the best halogen bulbs, i had some nightbreakers and was disapointed, ended up getting some oem xenons for £200 and rewiring the loom

Best out there :) price is very well justified. Went from these to a HID car and the difference was marginal

hmm.. what car was it with HID's? were they hids in a projector lense or just a normal reflector

no halogen is comparable to a proper xenon in a projector lense.

The PIAA Bulbs are very good, but are rather expensive considering the are Halogen bulbs. A friend had a set on his Impreza and he was replacing one every 6 months or so, not cheap.
