Anyone with HSBC?

We don't. I find it hard to believe anyone needs full access to their bank while they are out, but cant use telephone banking, or a machine at a branch.

telephone banking or a machine at a branch?

*ring ring* .... the nineties are on the phone.... they want their banking methods back :D

Just know (roughly) how much is in your account :o.

I prefer Santander's - no card reader, log in with nothing extra, and you can set up new payments via text (but once their set up you don't need to authorise payments via text, or anything like that).

Can I borrow your phone a sec? Still eying up a 680.

what..... you still al keep your money in a bank. I took all mine out and hide it in my mattress, its the only way to be sure those tory banker toffs don't gamble it away ? This way I don't need keycards, I just need a rubber counters thumb and a visor..........

That's not English. I have multiple bank accounts, yet I could tell you right now how much is in each one - it's not hard :|.

When do you need to access account info, when on a train?

I blame autocorrect :(

It is hard; if you use them all regularly for many transactions in a day from different cards then it's all but impossible to keep track of them all.

Eg, one is connected to my iTunes account and another I use on a daily basis but sometimes I use the iTunes one for daily stuff. I have better things to think about than my multiple accounts!:p

Re the train, I often have to check balances in the train. My phone does everything my computer does (bar gaming) and I'd check my balances out at home, why not on the train.

I don't care about someone looking over my shoulder and seeing how much money I have; why would I?

If you struggle, consider consolidating your accounts :o.

Why would you need to check them on the train, though?

I didn't say anything about people looking over your shoulder, so I'm not sure where that came from...

I'm paranoid. I'm spreading the risk as much as possible. Slate me all you like - I have piece of mind.

Checking On the train, I sometimes need to if I want to buy something online so I can still get it delivered the next day. I need to know which account I should take the money from so my card doesn't get rejected for a fiver or something stupid like that! Also, when I sell something on the MM I like to know if the money's arrived yet. Or if I've started a PayPal transfer its nice to know when you have the extra money to spend.

I too have no idea where that last bit came from; I blame my lack of sleep.

I love you, thanks for the heads up :D

Love you too <3

I wish the banks would let me use a phone app like Google's Authenticator that I have for 2 factor authentication to Gmail instead of the keypad thing. My phone goes everywhere, the keypad not so much.

I HATE Santander's system because you need to remember:

  • Personal ID number
  • Passcode
  • Registration number
  • Pass-phrase
  • Secret image
  • three security questions

It's ridiculous!

I'd prefer the HSBC calculator to the Santander system but to be honest, I preferred the old HSBC system to anything else I've used.

I've tried 3 times now and each time it won't add my card to the app... Really frustrating!

It also looks a bit "meh"... considering they have taken this long to produce the app it should look a lot more polished!
