Anyway to downclock my laptop?

hi all, just bought a new dell inspiron 1501 and its an amd turion 64 tl-50 X2 clocked at 1.6ghz, and i was wondering is there anyway to underclock the core of the processor to keep heat down and extend battery life as im currently only using it for surfing and music mayb e the odd dvd.

I would have thought that that laptop already did that itself.

n ot installed from looks of it, can i just download it from amd and do it via the software or does it have to be in the bios

Cool and quiet should be enabled in the bios.

thanks for the info guys but theres no bios option for cool n quite or power now which i would like to get working, does anyone have a link to download power now or cool n quite as ive looked all over the amd site and all i can find is a windows 2 k one or processor drivers which i have installed btw
