Found this male Pale Brindled Beauty moth on the doorstep last night; basked on the front door for a bit, then decided it'd sit on the doormat for a while.

First real chance to play with my new extension tubes; both taken with a 20mm tube on a 50mm f/1.8 @ f/11-f/18

C+C (especially on technique) welcome.

thats pretty damn good. the sharpness is impressive.

i'm assuming you used flash?

The second shot is a better angle then the first, but I would have tried to get more in front of it so you can see more features. It would make it a much more interesting shot.

They can be a nightmare to photograph though, when i got my first macro lens I was forever chasing them around the room!

It was a tad tricky to get any further round; the way he'd landed the face was pretty much head-on to the door so this was about as far as I could get; the tube was already touching the doorframe!

The shots were flash lit from a standard Speedlight on the hotshoe; a ringflash is a out of the question at the mo!
