Apple has dropped the ball with iPhone 5 and maps

Fair dos to Apple for admitting they balls it up.

I'm sure eventually they'll have a maps product that competes with google, but they're years behind.

I've decided not to bother with the iPhone 5, I will stay with the iPhone 4 for another round as it does what I need, better now I have a cover that stops it from dropping the signal all the time which I suffered with hugely, I actually think because I am an X Man or something. I went out and bought a new iPad 64 instead, well I needed to buy something now didn't I, but I don't see any value for me in the iPhone 5 as I have a camera I am happy with and the 4 works and is more than quick enough.

My days of needing to have the latest greatest gadget are also well behind me.

What amazes me is that a guy, or a team, or whatever, had decided that Maps was good enough and said 'Yup, lets ship it!'... How it ever got through the most basic QA tests baffles me. Too much time spent on London and not nearly enough time anywhere else.

What is more unbelievable is what Apple thinks of the maps: "... it's the best mapping program on any mobile platform."

I think they've tried taking the "customer is stupid" thing a bit too far now.

"The most advanced operating system ever" - Okay any idiot could believe that.
"The best... whatever, etc, so on and so forth" - Yeah it's all been believed by idiots for years...

But...

"The best mapping program on any mobile platform." - I don't think anyone is stupid enough to believe that. Apple have just gone too far. Did they really think no one uses Google Maps?

My 5 is going back to 3 as I dont see much difference from the 4s, good job I kept it and didnt update to iOS6 but got a Samsung S3 on Saturday tried that out, love it so maybe 4s will be for sale aswell! I use Google maps a lot and imo Apple stuffed things up with Maps, unless jailbreak comes and Google maps can be ported over....
