apple or android

Will people please stop saying that IOS works better out of the box! :p Android and IOS are both the same with regards to out of the box, unless it is a crappy cheap android....... Would have agreed with android phones on 2.1 and earlier versions but with 2.3 and especially ICS/JB it is perfectly fine now.

Anyway, this is a good comparison between android and IOS:

im guessing if people hadn't invested real money on many apps they have bought either on itunes or googles marketplace then the decision to switch between would be a lot easier.

I know a couple of people that would love to get a better phone than their iphones but are concerned as they feel that all the £££s they spent on apps etc would be wasted.

I'd feel the same to be honest but thankfully I only use free apps so will jsut switch to whatever platform pwns the hardest! I wish windows phone had better apps but till then android rules :)

Been an iPhone/iPad user since the 3G, was a brilliant OS and fantastic hardware. But since getting the chance to play with Android on phones for a Uni experiment, then getting the Nexus 7, I'm converted!

The hardware has caught up (and surpassed) what Apple are putting out and the software is more flexible, customisable (without JB/root) and just as easy and pleasurable to use. My contract isn't up for another 11 months, but I am genuinely looking forward to having a real choice of phone for the first time in years.

I've used android and iOS for a really long time and right now I have a iPad3 and S2 so to great products form each platform and here is my opinion on both of them.

iOS :
- Everything feels like it fits and all the apps are always similar im terms of UI, this is a plus for most but I hate the styling of most iOS apps, they look boring and have that dry boring blue color.

- Great ecosystem

- Everything just works out of the box :P, by this I mean 3rd party peripherals are always going to work with iOS device, however iphone5 is going to **** this up.

- Amazing build, although it gets damaged so quickly.

Android:

- Software offers more, and generally I find the 1st party apps to be the best

- Great Google ecosystem (may not interest all off you)

- Great hardware selection, 1 size fits all approach is good, but sucks for the customer. I still find the latest iPhone cramped as its not wide enough, the keyboard

- Amazing maps experience :)

Overall there both great, and it is all down to your personal taste, I would recommend getting the s3 and if you don't like it within 1 week you can return it and get the iPhone 5.
