Apple Store HE discount & Applecare

Hi all

I know this has been discussed a thousand times before. However, having just spoken to the Finance Department at Apple, the lady confirmed to me 1000% (her words) that HE purchases DO NOT come with 3 year warranty as standard. She said that the Applecare works in exactly the same way as it does for a normal consumer, but it's just heavily discounted. So to get the 3 year warranty, you have to purchase the Applecare - the price isn't just to extend telephone support.

all I know is that when I worked at the store I asked the Geniusseseseses and they said they didn't know but they had noticed that often they'd ask the customer if they'd bought applecare, they'd say no, and GCRM would say the machine was in warranty even though they hadn't paid for it, this was on machines bought from the online student store.

They advised me over the phone that there is no 3year warranty given to all purchases, it's only if your university has a contract specially to give the cover otherwise you need to purchase applecare which is heavily discounted. They told me speak to the uni to find out if I will get it otherwise keep my applecare.
