Applying for job, bit stuck

Hi guys, I have to answer this question but im a bit confused as to what it exactly means :confused:

I have to answer in my own words:

An ability to make decisions with set rules or parameters. (This job is for the passport office

)

Please could you help me understand what exactly they want me to answer

Something along the lines of...

Rules and Parameters in place
1) Allow all people of any age to apply for a Passport.

YOU CAN NOT DO THE FOLLOWING

Accepted Passport Form or Decline?
You can not apply for a Passport because you are really old.

What they mean is, they have rules for getting a passport and you would be expected to make decisions on issuing passports based upon those rules.

Basically, can you follow written rules and not make your own decisions based on your opinions.

These sorts of question are looking for demostatable abilities.

What can you as an example that demonstrates the ability to make a decision following a set of rules and/or parameters.

As an example id say its like baking a cake. The rules are in the cookbook, but you must still decide whether the eggs are fresh. Make sense ?
