Hi,

was just wondering when looking for a new job and sending your CV off, do you put references from your current job on there ?

as what happens if they call your current boss and he finds out you're looking for a new job ??

Yes you put your start end dates of previous jobs and your current one and they will ring you and interview you and confirm its ok to get a reference from your current boss before they do it.

no

you only need to give references when they ask for them. or on an application form. if your randomly sending your cv out i wouldnt put references on.

obviously youve gotta tell them where you currently work but they cant ask for references without your permission i think

It's quite common to write "References available upon request" at the bottom.

I would have thought that by putting names/telnos etc on there, is kinda an invitation for your new employer to call - they don't need permission or anything, although it'd be bad practice just to go ahead without authorisation.

Gives you more space for your own stuff too.

However, on the c.v. I last used, I didn't, I just wrote them on there... :)

that's fine, if they want them, they'll ask.
nobody's gonna think that is trying to hide them as it's a clear offer for them to easily call your bluff on (if hiding them was your intention).
all they gotta do is ask.

plenty of places are happy makeing offers "subject to references".
ie. they'll make a decision and offer before chasing up the refs.
if the refs come back bad, the offer will be withdrawn.
