Hey,

Its a Sanyo, PRO-X MultiVerse Projector - Model number PLC-SU30. I've just plugged it in and have a few questions.

The colour is very very green, any setting I change makes no difference, I assume this is a lamp issue, it also has a large blue dot in the middle.

There are some lights on it, one which is lit up just says lamp. The Lamp replcace light isn't on.

Before I go spending £100 on a new lamp thing, is there anything else which may be the problem.

Thanks

If the green tinge it's probably a problem with one of the optical filters, and to be honest probably not financially sensible to fix on a projector this old. The blue dot is dust on one of the LCD panels and usually these can be cleaned by taking the PJ apart and blowing the panels with an air blower.

PLC-SU30 is an SVGA presentational projector which means it has a very bright lamp and very poor contrast ratio, which means it was a poor choice for home cinema even when it was new. I would put £100 towards a better PJ rather than this one if PJ is the route you want to go :)

Thanks for the good advice.

What projector setup would you reccomend for home cinema use? Blu-Ray films and Gaming are what I'd use it for mainly.

For ~£300, take a look at the Sanyo Z3, Panasonic AE700, and others that were competitors in the ~£800 price range ~2.5 years ago.

Enjoying a star wars marathon on my Z3 last night with some mates........
