ArcheAge, Ultima Online's rebirth?

I'm not basing my opinion off hearsay, rather the fact that the founder packs contain differing amounts of in-game currency.

I'm not fond of games where you can gain a monetary advantage by having bigger, more accessible pockets than someone else. I know you could buy in-game currency in Wildstar but that was mitigated by being able to swap it for game time. If Archeage has a system like this then I'll retract my scepticism immediately Mr Vlad Tombstone.

You can buy Patron time via ingame methods, though its not been said yet what the exchange rate is or how easily its done.

Sadly its the nature of all MMOs really that those people who have bigger pockets get an advantage (actually I would even extend that sentence to all things in life, not just mmos). The main pull for me for the Patron status is the land ownership, I'd be perfectly happy for my founders pack to have no credits on it at all.

The way I see it is they are running a business, they put the basic game out there for free so everyone can play and if you want all the bells and whistles you pay them.

Yup having been in all the closed beta's so far and really enjoying it i decided to and bought the Gold Founders pack. It's like £30 cheaper on G2A than Trion and Steam and that way i support them, get Patron which i would have anyway and get a few extra things.

See, this is why I asked for all your opinions rather than read up on it; cheers chaps!

Are there any dungeons and such, or is the whole end game PvP based?

Sorry for all the questions!

Theres about a half dozen dungeons, so the end game isnt entirely PvP based, but I would warn in advance that PvP is certainly a major part of endgame

Never anything wrong with questions !

Not really as it looks like ****.

Well thats the beauty of the MMO market, theres always something for everyones tastes on the market. Those who dont like the Archeage style, can find solace in one of the other many MMO titles, and those who dont like the other many MMO titles, can find solace in Archeage perhaps.

I quite like the art style. I also think the graphics are very nice - although I keep getting a 1 second lag here and there, usually in the middle of combat.

Questing seems standard fare and I seemed to have joined the rest of the known universe in making a Cat person Archer thing.

Also I see the customary Asian trope of the females having chests made out of a gravity defying jelly substance. Maybe it's their tribute to Robin Williams that Archeage breasts contain 100% flubber.

Well that's up to them really, i wouldn't pay that much personally

Must admit, its the most I have ever "paid" for a game, but I didnt really mind too much. I've had access to the game every day for the last 3 months, my purchase comes with £75 worth of Credits to spend on the "game-shop" and it comes with 3 months of Patron status at release. So if we assume the patron sub will be around the usual MMO monthly sub price , lets say £8 a month, thats £24 worth of patron status. So add that to the credits and thats £99 worth of stuff with it, so in effect, I've really paid £10 for the 3 months of alpha, which I'm quite happy with :)

Couldn't agree more. I've had great value so far and learned so much. I'm still scratching the surface though.

There are hidden quests that take you across the whole world, and beneath the seas. Some of the rewards are rumoured to be best in slot.

The graphics style has grown on me, sailing a clipper at night with the moon reflecting off the water is just wonderful.

Strangely enough if i never played again I would still feel I've had my money's worth. I was going to pass it by till some friends from another MMO moved. Glad I went with them.

I understand that, i couldn't justify it myself but opted for the Gold pack instead. So i do get where you are coming from! :)

I was seeing the exact thing earlier today but since switching to DX9 haven't seen them. Not an ideal solution by any metric but it's made the game far more playable for me.

Are we allowed to share codes? I have a spare beta weekend code
