ArcheAge, Ultima Online's rebirth?

Final day of closed Beta. Can only hope for open to gogo soon. I ploughed 100 hours into beta/alpha since buying archeum 3 weeks ago and still feel like a total nub.

Loving it. Think i'll have 3 toons on release. 1 dedicated farmer, 1 dedicated miner, 1 metal working lvl 50 main.

Exciting! Just hope my labour points can hack all that work.

4th September - Open beta
12th September - Headstart (for people who buy a game package)
16th September - General release

It's worth a go for those who haven't tried it, it's very Korean, God awful music and generic quests. For some reason though I just really enjoy it and will be sinking time in to it when headstart starts.

Its a little more like the oldschool mmos, so maybe thats its appeal to me, after all , I still say that Ultima Online is one of, if not the, best MMO ever, and that didnt even have 1 quest in it :)

Well, you could escort nobles for some money to a town. So not strictly true :D.

I was hoping Trion would have them implement more changes for a western market. The music is ridiculously bad for a game this high profile, and I'd like them to adjust the appearance of characters.

I always turn the music off in every game I play its just annoying, I would prefer they spend there time on other stuff anyway :D

I know a lot of people feel that way but I always think the music can make a big difference to a game when it's done well and fits with what's happening. Bit like a film. Imagine a horror film with an ice cream van playing as the soundtrack - that's what Archeage is like.

It's actually not Korean enough for me.

Whilst I did enjoy the beta I found it a bit too generic which really disappointed me as I had been following the game for years.

On the plus side, it's free to play so at least I can have a go if ever I change my mind and I hope it's successful.

Did anyone else hit 30/31 and then experience constant griefing in CB4? I may have been unlucky, but the area I was in seemed to be at level 11 for most of the day and I'd try and tag a quest mob, only to be swiftly killed by 1-3 people who were in stealth waiting to kill me.

I'm fairly laid back about Open World PVP, but it got to a point where you couldn't hit a quest mob, which kinda defeats the point for me.

Maybe I just got unlucky...

Level 30 is roughly when you hit your first pvp zone, the players attacking you were likely from your faction which is a bit lame of them but heh...part of the game.

One option would be to level via other means (crafting, gathering etc) but I guess that'd take a bit more time and not worth it for CB4. If you play the game on live leveling in a group would be recommended if possible. Gankee turned ganker.

I suspect a lot of people will be more concerned about leveling up than corpse camping and greifing on launch but theres always a few greifers!

If you haven't played previously, the client pre-load is now up for those wanting to download before the open beta tomorrow.

8.58Gig was expecting it to be more unless there's a huge patch after this ?

They did say they were bringing in a patch compression system so that all patches, regardless of size would be no bigger than about 8gb, so could be that its bigger but just sized into the 8gb

Yer, think the download was a fraction over 8.5gb and the game folder is 23gb total.

Do we know what time the open beta starts tomorrow? All preinstalled and I don't start work till 1430.

I don't know if I'll bother buying this as I just can't seem to get into mmo's any more but I'll gie it a try.

Oh crap forgot this started tonight :)

The free side of the game will be massive let down compared to the paid side I would imagine due to the decreased rate of labour points and the difficulty in owning and maintaining land/property.
