ArcheAge, Ultima Online's rebirth?

Patched and ready to go, not sure whether start a new char and class or carry on. I don't want to hammer it too much as this is the game i'm hoping to sink a lot of time in to.

Well seeing as all will be wiped roll a class you haven't played, it will ultimately help with your main class choice on release.

Down currently? What server are people going to be using as are the open beta servers the same and only ones for launch?

I tried logging into Rift this morning and couldn't get on. Later the Trion staff on the forums said there had been attacks, it's the same now. Forums down, Glyph down.

Didn't think it was up until 7bells here, just logged into Glyph and Archeage is working.

All servers have queue's ;)

The localisation is very bad.

The forums are in uproar because of changes Trion's making, essentially that you not only have to pay a subscription to get anywhere, but you have to buy items from the store on top.

I haven't followed it closely, but it seems that without subscription you are so limited (e.g. can't own land) that you can't progress in the game. Apparently now to craft properly you have to buy items in the store.

It's almost universal anger on their forums. Rift and Defiance appear to be the same with recent changes, it looks like Trion is going full pay to win.

Yeah I am just catching up on reddit.

It seems the major issue seems to be the changes that have been made in labour points from the Alpha to the Beta. Patrons got 20 labour every 10 minutes in the alpha and a labour potion (bought from the ingame store) can be used once per character every 12 hours meaning 4000 additional labour every 12 hours (1 from each character) so 8000 a day

In the beta it is 10 labour points per 10 minutes and 1 labour potion per character every 4 hours meaning less passive regeneration (by half) and 24,000 from pots.

I can see why people are miffed if that is the case because if I am paying a subscription the pots should be an additional not a requirement.

I wonder how much of this is being enforced by XL and not Trion as Trion are the devs and publishers of RIFT and from what I can gather that is not P2W but uses the same sub and shop model that Archeage will be using.

Since the announcements of 3.0, Rift forums are full of angry people too. They've now made it possible to get best in slot items *only* via cash, albeit for 1 month only. Since Trion had promised you could never buy the best items in game, making them only available via cash has naturally caused a lot of upset. Additionally, the new ultimate pack costs £113 and doesn't include any subscription time, or the new expansion souls, or any credits.

On the Defiance side, they've changed a lot so that you need weeks of grinding to get the stuff you used to be able to get in a few hours of play. Unless you buy the equivalents from the store.
