Going to fit a dual Opteron this afternoon. The HSF supplied in the box seems quite good, a big beefy SOAB with heat pipes. Is my Freezer 64 pro still better?

Thanks in advance.

only one way to find out buddy... lol test em and see. i would like to think the Arctic Cooler would be better - being after market and all but then i havent tested the opty stock so who knows - also compair the volume on each of them

good luck

OK, I've quickly had a shot this morning to change back to stock.

So far OC'ed to 2.5GHz.

Started with Freezer Pro 64:

idle = 42C
load (dual prime) = 54C

I was a bit disappointed, so tried the stock HSF.

idle = 44C
load = 62C

Looks cut and dried, however when I took off the AFP64 I noticed my rice grain-compression-spread method hadn't covered the whole IHS. I've now reseated the AFP64 with a touch more (fresh!) AS5, and I'll see tonight if it's cooler than 54C.

As well, though, after trying the stock HSF and removing it I went to clean it, and the TIM was like dried chewing gum! So perhaps it will perform better with AS5.
I have to say the temps weren't lower by as much as I'd hoped. I'll have a better shot at the w'end.
