Grey isn't a particularly conventional colour for shirts at a wedding but if it's the choice between no shirt and a grey shirt then wear the grey shirt every time. Assuming there's no dress code overriding normal practice then if you've got the time and it's not going to bankrupt you I'd suggest buying another shirt in a fairly neutral colour.
