I'm thinking of going on holiday and want to record some of the holiday. Do you guys think a Camcorder is better then a Camera that records in HD?

thanks

depends on what you mean by camera, are talking compact camera, brigde camera or dslr camera. plus what sort of camcorder. as their are various different type of camcorder. then their the question are you just going to take video or are going to take video and photographys if both then camera would be useful in the sense that it does both where the camcorder only shoots video.

Depends on which DSLR/lens, but it's generally not worth spending the extra cash on an extra video camera.

I'm thinking of comparing a digital compact camera HD video v's a camcorder only for taking HD videos (not photos)

thanks

The camcorder will be better but some of the compact cameras offer reasonably good video which may be sufficient for your needs.

best thing to do would be jump on youtube and just search for specific models and check out a few real world videos rather than test/review vid's.
