Are ghosts real?

I think the word 'ghost' is more akin to a laymans expression, a bit like 'gut feeling' or 'sixth sense' rather than 'energy' or something else equivalent with similar connotations. I tend to look at ghosts as simply as something that occupies the same space as where you are right now for example, just that they are at a different vibration.

I'd love to hear the science behind this because 'vibrations' sounds like nonsense.

So, those of you claiming they are not real, where's the proof?

Before you ask, no I cannot prove they are real, and I am undecided on the matter :)

Why is the onus on those who don't believe in ghosts to prove that they do not exist?

People who are saying "No", including me, are saying that no we don't think they are real. Just like people who say "Yes", are saying that they do think they are real.

Truth is there is no real proof either way. :p

Where's your proof that there isn't a small teapot floating in space somewhere beyond the orbit of Mars?

See, if there's no reason to suspect a thing exists, why suppose that it does?

Im undecided, i believe theres spirits about as you get that "feeling somtimes, like playing weegie board" but not like paranormal activity, but if i came back and was a ghost like the one out of paranormal activity... the things i would do!

Standard answer:

In the W world where religion and therefore thought of death is dominated by Christianity for example we have an after life where ghosts can exist. They do in our imaginations and we get programs like you (the op) is watching.

In India they have programs that are based on reincarnation instead.

It's all human fabrication. :)

In fairness this is a forum populated primarily by people with a fairly keen interest in over-clocking computers. In other words, full of scientists or wanna-be scientists - of a sort!.

By "open mindedness", you of course mean "willing to swallow any old garbage that spews forth from the mouth of a mystic / con artist, without giving any thought towards whether it even makes sense"?

Your version is more succinct, at least.

I'm don't really believe in ghosts myself. That most haunted program looks so fake though to me.

You can see it on the way they place the camera for example. Do you ever see two people react to something at the same time? And why do they have to turn the lights off. Surely if there was ghosts there it would not matter or do they only come out after dark :p I just see it as a way to make it seem a lot scarier when watching

Indeed. That was going to be my first response but I didn't have the energy to write it, so thanks for expanding on my existent views.

I'm not going to discuss this topic anymore on this forum. Unfortunately it's pointless.
