Are printers still rubbish?

i run a epson px710w with a ciss and a waste ink tank, cheap as chips to run with 6 100ml bottles of ink only costing about a tenner and that will refill the ciss 2/3 times. with each filling the equivalent of 6/7 sets of cartridges.

a ciss is without a doubt the cheapest way to use a inkjet, much cheaper than compatible cartridges. which is a godsend considering how much crap the wife prints out...:p

same set up as mine, best printer ive owned, great never worring about ink
and photo printing thats as good as shops

I have a Canon LBP5000 colour laser and it's fantastic. Paid around £140-150 for it 2 (EDIT - just realised it was almost 3 years ago!!!) years ago and it came with 2 sets of toners. Only just swapped out the 1st set last week, and according to the counters it had turned over 2,400 sheets in that time. Not bad considering I often print large areas of colour.

Only issue I have had since buying was that there was no 64bit driver. Canon resolved that at the start of the year and it works perfect with Win 7 64bit.

As for colour inkjet, the Canon IP45/46/47/4800 series are all awesome, but the OEM inks are expensive.

Took the canon MG5150 back today.
doesn't seem like you can buy the px710w (or px800w & px810w) anymore.

Trying to find an afforable decent printer that support ciss and instock was a trial, ended up buying a Epson Stylus Px650

If you want a really good, really cool printer the Canon MP640 is great.

Wireless, good print quality and if you want cheap ink you can buy the ink off flea bay and print for the cost of Kodak inks and save the proper ink for pictures.

Read some reviews on this model... it is a 5* printer.
