Are refurb chairs risky?

I went to try out some refurbished Herman Millers and Steelcase chairs at a warehouse in London but in the end bought a brand new Mirra 2 for £800 for the warranty. The refurbished chairs were actually good quality overall.

Where in london was this warehouse mate? I am trying to get something refurb , scouring facebook but lot of the listings are for warehouses out of london.

Id say all good if the refurb was done by the actual brand, Third party refurbs id be more wary of.
Although like mentioned id imagine you can always return if not happy.
Sit on one and see :D
This is what annoys me within the UK in particular is that its quite hard to find a place that actually has chairs on show for you to try out, Sure the big stores have "Gaming" inspired ones you can try but I've always found these to be a bit naff.
If its high quality/Office boss chair you want there is zero around my area ive found. :/ ...just all online.

John Lewis normally has a selection you can try. We went to one and my wife liked the Humanscale liberty. We proceeded to buy a refurb one from Corporate Spec for a fraction of the price and it's as good as new.

I got a refurbished Humanscale Freedom from Corporate Spec. Similar to @Helios1234 it arrived in near new condition (just a tiny bit of paint flaking on the base). Over 4 years later and it's still in great condition, no complaints.

My 2nd hand Mirra just arrived from an ebay seller.

You can see it's used but omg it's so comfortable. And all the wear parts can be replaced anyway it seems. The worst of it seems to be the armrests are a little grubby - I thought the leather was cracking/wearing but it's just dirt. You'd think they'd at least clean the thing properly!

I picked up a Herman Miller Celle from an Ebay seller (not a refurb) for £50 back in 2019; was a little tatty, but 5 years on it's still super comfortable, all of the mechanicals work perfectly. Could maybe do with a new seat cushion, but I think these are supposed to have minimal padding anyway.

It's one of the lower end/cheaper HM chairs, so based on this I'd have no qualms in getting a properly refurbished higher end one :)
